From the Division Command Post south of Chunchon, Reconnaissance Company mounted daily patrols as part of a concerted Division effort to maintain contact with the enemy to the northwest. The expected enemy offensive began on 16 May with attacks upon the eastern edge of the defensive line. The force of the Chinese offensive soon began to dwindle as their lines of communication to the rear became less able to supply them with information. Soon a disorganized and scattered enemy, offering only token resistance, was in full retreat northward. |
