S/Sgt. Virgil Lee Majors was one of many Recon Marines who served two tours of duty during the Korean War. He was also one of the “Frozen Few” who would eventually loose his right leg due to frostbite during the Chosin Reservoir pullout. During the assault on Hill 884 the Marines experienced some incoming mortar rounds that were far off the target area of the landing zone (LZ).
