On 17 January 1953 Cpl. Jerry Ravino observed a tall
marine walking in the trench line at Hill Hedy, a
124 meter hump at the southern end of the Bunker Hill
ridge. For some unknown reason this Marine from How
Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, reached over the
trench line and indiscriminately fired a full clip of .45 cal.
rounds from his pistol down the reverse side of the hill.
After he had walked about ten feet further along the trench
line, an enemy sniper noticed his head above the trench
and shot him dead on the spot.
