Pfc. Carlo A. Marchetti remembers a special assignment that came down from division headquarters with a unique task that once again made the Marines of First Reconnaissance Company think of their unit as one of the General’s ELITE companies of Marines. With orders from the Commanding General of the 1st Marine Division, Major Marvin D. Perski was told to deploy Recon guard platoons to cover both Freedom Gate and Libby bridges during the sensitive transfer of Chinese and North Korean, prisoners of war.
